Spec Your Own Gear
Garment Technology

Three layers. One job: get you home.

Modern turnout gear is a precision-engineered system. Here's what's inside each suit we build — and the test data behind each layer.

Outer Shell layer
01

Outer Shell

Nomex® / Kevlar® / PBI Blends

The outer shell is your first line of defense against flame impingement and radiant heat. We source mill-certified Nomex, Kevlar, and PBI blends — each roll tested before cutting. The weave is tuned to your hazard profile, and stress points are bartacked to survive repeated use.

Faces flame head-on — abrasion & tear resistant
60,000+ cycles abrasion resistance
35+ N tear strength
Flame resistance — self-extinguishing

Available in 6.0–7.5 oz/sq yd weights. Custom color matching via Pantone-verified dye lots.

Moisture Barrier layer
02

Moisture Barrier

PTFE / ePTFE Membrane Technology

Sandwiched between the outer shell and thermal liner, the moisture barrier keeps water, bloodborne pathogens, and chemicals out while letting sweat vapor escape. It prevents steam burns and keeps firefighters cool under load.

Blocks water & pathogens, vents sweat vapor
600+ g/m²/24h moisture vapor transmission
ASTM F1671 viral penetration barrier
Flexible from -40°F to 500°F

Cross-linked ePTFE membrane on a flame-resistant aramid substrate. Survives 100+ industrial wash cycles.

Thermal Liner layer
03

Thermal Liner

Aramid Face Fabric + FR Batting

The thermal liner stands between a firefighter and a flashover. The spun aramid face cloth sits next to skin, while calibrated FR batting hits precise TPP ratings without unnecessary bulk. Quilting keeps protection consistent wash after wash.

Last line before flashover — traps heat, stays breathable
35–45+ TPP rating
Aramid needle-punch batting
ASTM F2700 radiant heat protection

Custom TPP targets — from 35 for mobility to 45+ for maximum thermal protection.

Fit & Sizing

We measure once. You don't re-order.

Ill-fitting turnout gear is a safety hazard. Our sizing program eliminates the #1 cause of exchanges — and the downtime that comes with them.

Men's Fit

XS–6XL in regular, short, and long lengths. Articulated knee and elbow patterns that move with the body, not against it.

Women's Fit

Purpose-built female patterns — not just scaled-down men's sizes. Contoured waist, adjusted shoulder slope, and hip-to-waist ratios based on female firefighter anthropometric data.

Our Factory

Where precision meets production.

Fabric inspection. CAD grading. Cutting. Sewing. QC lab. Packing. All live under one roof. We do not broker capacity to workshops we cannot walk through. When you need eyes on your order, the production manager walks 40 feet and puts them there. That is why our fire-gear lead times sit at 14–18 days, and why the math typically lands 40–60% below distributor pricing.

Testimonials

From security directors and procurement leads who got it right.

"

We ordered 300 turnout sets for three stations, and by month eight we'd already placed the replenishment order. The fit was the first thing my crew noticed — suits graded to each firefighter's measurements, and our exchange rate dropped from 35% to under 3%.

A year of training burns and live calls later, the shells still pass our own inspection. No delamination, no batting shift.

And they never treated 300 sets like a small order — three sample rounds on the production line, then a 14-day turnaround when we needed 40 more.

"

I source PPE for a 1,200-firefighter authority across 14 stations, and the paperwork used to be the worst part of the job — three suppliers, three formats, zero accountability.

Now each container lands with a documentation pack: mill certs, lab reports, AQL 2.5 data, filed by purchase order. Two OSHA audits since we switched, zero findings.

The sizing math alone is worth it — digital records in Gerber CAD, reorders matching within ±0.5″, exchange rate from 35% down to under 5%.

And when regulators started asking about PFAS, one email got us material disclosure for every lot.

FAQ

Before you buy turnout gear, ask these.

If your question isn't here, our RFQ desk responds within 24 hours — no sales pitch, just specs.

Each suit we build has three layers with separate jobs. The outer shell takes the flame and abrasion — pick Nomex® IIIA for the best value, Kevlar®/Nomex for extra tear strength, PBI Gold for maximum thermal protection, or a lightweight TenCate fabric if mobility matters most. The moisture barrier keeps water and bloodborne pathogens out while venting sweat, and the thermal liner is what stands between your crew and a flashover. We'll map the three layers to your hazard profile before a single yard is cut.

This is how many of our fire-service clients start. Send us a reference sample or tech pack — even photos off your phone are enough to begin. Our pattern engineers reverse-engineer construction, fabric weight, fit, and hardware, then propose improvements before you commit. Typical teardown-to-quote is 5 business days.

We work with mill-certified Nomex® IIIA, Kevlar®/Nomex blends, PBI/Kevlar blends (premium), modacrylic FR blends (lightweight), FR cotton/nylon blends, and PFAS-free FR fabrics. Outer shell weights range from 6.0–8.5 oz/sq yd. For gear that must keep its rating for years, we'll steer you to Nomex/aramid — the flame resistance is in the fiber, so it can't wash out. Each incoming fabric roll is tested before it reaches the cutting table.

Send your spec, and a pre-production sample is cut and sewn on the actual production line — not a sampling room — and express-couriered to you within 5 business days. Most projects dial in within 2 revision rounds. Standard bulk production averages 18 days from final sample approval; rush orders ship in 14 days. Replenishment orders for a locked spec ship in 14 days.

Check the men's and women's size charts above for your starting point: men's runs XS–6XL with chest, waist, and sleeve measurements; women's runs XS–4XL with bust, waist, and hip. The real fix is our measurement program — we digitize each firefighter's measurements in Gerber CAD and archive them, so reorders match original fits within ±0.5″. Departments running this program see exchange rates drop from the industry average of 35% to under 5%.

That's the white-label side of what we do. Department embroidery and badge integration, individual firefighter name strips, rank insignia, custom 3M Scotchlite trim layouts, reflective name panels, and gear-tracking labels (RFID/barcode) are all done in-house. Private-label hang tags, care labels, and branded packaging are included at the higher tiers. Your patterns and dye formulas are protected under an NNN Agreement before any spec changes hands.

We ship FOB, CIF, or DDP to North America, Europe, the Middle East, Southeast Asia, Australia, and Africa — over 30 countries. Customs documentation is pre-filed digitally before the container leaves the factory, and we coordinate sea, air, or express courier for samples. Once your spec is locked, repeat orders are faster and our 99.2% on-time delivery record holds across the program.
